Abstract
BENEDICTO, Jorge. Youth citizenship: An approach based on the life experiences of young people. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.2, pp.925-938. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.14203210415.
The recent popularity of the concept of youth citizenship concept has the risk of transforming into a new category that is full of rhetoric but lacks content. It is therefore necessary to consider what is discussed in this article - what being a young person and a citizen at the same time in contemporary societies means, the obstacles that need to be overcome and the possibility of achieving youth citizenship. For this purpose, this text offers a new approach to the construction of youth citizenship that links the development of young people as autonomous persons with the active and participatory experiences of their condition as citizens. The author concludes by discussing some ideas to promote youth citizenship, transforming youth policies into citizenship policies.
