Abstract
QUATTRINI, Diego. Without shame. A Goffmanian analysis of the “presence” training in the employment encouragement program. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.2, pp.1291-1302. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.14227011015.
The aim of the study is to analyze the education of the “good presence” skill that should be developed by vulnerable young people looking to get into the job market. To conduct this analysis the authors used some contributions from Erving Goffman’s theory. As part of the methodology, in 2013 interviews were held with technicians and young people from an employment and job training program. These techniques sought to observe the body-emotional management produced in the presentation of these young people for their job search. The study asks about the construction of the feeling of recognition, which is produced under the regulating gaze of others. The inclusion is given then, for achieving an aesthetic presentation that is emotionally validated through interactions with others.
