Abstract

Introduction:
The article explore the way in which the process of incorporation of disability, which has as its epicenter the body and combines the tension between the social structures and the agency of the social actors, becomes fundamental for the understanding of the social dimension of intellectual disability.
Development:
This start by de-constructing the process of incorporation of the intellectual disability analyzing the implications that this process has for the body. From this, explore the mechanisms of corporal manifestation of intellectual disability. Finally, I explore the way in which the incorporation of the disability and the corporal manifestation of this allow the person who lives it in particular ways.
Conclusions:
It conclude that disability is not only a characteristic that is imposed on the person from outside his singularity, but that he has the capacity to build and transform it constantly through the use of his individual body. In this way, the understanding of the social dimension of disability starts by recognizing the repercussions, negotiations and different manifestations of intellectual disability.
