Abstract

OSPINA ALARCON, Manuel Alejandro  and  BUSTAMANTE RUA, Moisés Oswaldo. Hydrodynamic study of gravity concentration devices type JIG. Prospect. [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.1, pp.52-58. ISSN 1692-8261.  https://doi.org/10.15665/rp.v13i1.359.

This paper presents a numerical investigation of phenomenological based semiphysical model (PBSM) of distributed parameters as a useful tool in the design, control and optimization of gravity concentration process in a jigging device, which is a high yield and high recovery gravimetric concentrator device widely used in minerals processing. A detailed description is made to obtaining a PBSM based on the knowledge and basic principles of the processes: mass and momentum balances and particles trajectories as well as hydrodynamic principles to obtain constitutive equations. The procedure was applied to the concentration stage in a gold processing plant. The model is compared with a real Jig through simulation.
