Abstract
CORTE P, Danitza M; SIERRA V, Fabio and VALENCIA O, Guillermo E. Mathematical model validation "Probability Density Function (PDF) of Weibull" assessing the wind resource in colombian Caribbean area: case study. Prospect. [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.2, pp.38-46. This paper present the wind speed measurements analysis for a weather station located in Barranquilla city, northern in Colombia, by the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies of Colombia (IDEAM), for the years 2012 and 2013, using measures of central tendency, relative and absolute frequency histograms, that allow estimate the most frequently velocity in this zone. From probability density function (pdf) of Weibull calculated from the histograms for the years 2012 and 2013, it was possible to predict the behavior of the wind speed by 2014, incurring small statistical errors in the prediction, which allowed a successful wind resource characterization of the place, enabling the development of models to convert the wind power to electrical energy.
