Abstract

RUDNYKH, Svetlana Ivanovna  and  RIOS, Víctor Ignacio López. CHOICE OF DESIRABILITY FUNCTION FOR OPTIMAL DESIGNS UNDER RESTRICTIONS. Rev.EIA.Esc.Ing.Antioq [online]. 2018, vol.15, n.30, pp.13-24. ISSN 1794-1237.  https://doi.org/10.24050/reia.v15i30.903.

Experimental design is a key stage of any study, as it directly influences the quality of inferences that can be drawn from the data. Inadequate experimental designs can cause problems in the estimation of the model parameters and/or get in conflict with common laboratory practice or other established guidelines. In this paper we consider the problem of construction augmented optimal designs under constraints to overcome these difficulties. The technique proposed by Parker (2005) suggests generate experimental designs that fulfill to be both optimal in accordance with traditional design criteria and practical according to constraints imposed by an investigator through the use of desirability functions. In this paper we present general guidelines for choosing appropriate desirability functions involved in obtaining optimal designs penalized with desirable characteristics. Furthermore, the proposed methodology is illustrated with MichaelisMenten model and we compare designs obtained from different desirability functions.
