This paper discusses the relation ship between - Archeology and the scientific communication, since its beginning until the present days. At first, we perform a historical overview of the two areas. Then, we present quantitative data concerning the difussion of Archeology in the newspaper Folha de São Paulo. These two moments are important because they provide a reflection on the current practices of the communication of Archeology to the general public in Brazil.
