Abstract

MARTINEZ OSORIO, Gilberto Emiro. The "11th of November" Promenade: Cultural practices and the representation of public space in Sincelejo. 1910 - 1945. memorias [online]. 2016, n.29, pp.15-51. ISSN 1794-8886.

Taking the framework of urban cultural history as its point of departure, this article explores the cultural practices, representations and meaning associated with the "11th of November Promenade," one of the most emblematic public spaces in Sincelejo. Accordingly, this article offers a critical analysis of the references to the "11th of November Promenade" that appeared in newspaper articles published in Sincelejo in the first decades of the 20th century, which are available at the National Library in Bogotá. In particular, this article offers insights to the construction of the promenade and the appropriation of the site as a social space.

Keywords : Public space; promenade; cultural practices; representation; press; Sincelejo.
