Abstract
OCHOA DIAZ, Diana and ORJUELA ORTIZ, Marcela. Forced displacement and Poverty of the colombian woman. Entramado [online]. 2013, vol.9, n.1, pp.66-83. ISSN 1900-3803.
Abstract This article analyzes the relationship of forced displacement to the economic conditions of women who are victims of this issue, as compared with other Colombian women. For this purpose, econometric models are constructed based on information gathered from the National Survey of Demography and Health - (Spanish acronym: DHS) (2010). These models include variables that represent the socioeconomic conditions of those who are forcibly displaced and which determine particular circumstances of vulnerability for individuals in a situation of displacement. In this way, this article shows that the probability of being poor and displaced is greater as regards other migrants and native persons, not because of the forced nature of the migration, but rather because of the precarious socioeconomic conditions with which they arrive at their destinations, specifically those that have to do with educational level, both individual and head of household, as well as the number of children.
