This study explores the home practices in the taking care of the mother and new born baby in the pacific coast of Cauca, Colombia for the possible application in the imci strategy -Integrated Attention of Prevalent Diseases of Infants- that aims to reduce infant mortality in children under five years. By a qualitative design, information about traditional medical practices, cultural diseases of pregnant woman and newborn babies were found, as well as general information about the crisis in health attention of this region.
