Abstract Home automation systems have traditionally been designed and developed for groups with high purchasing power, without considering the environmental and social responsibility of its production and installation. With the increasing low cost of technology and popularization of objects such as cell phones, as a phenomena in the market, this article seeks to establish the possibility of involving one automation project in homes of disadvantaged populations to implement energy self-production technology in designed and manufactured objects, contributing first of all to the awareness of energy wastage of human beings and on the other hand and more fundamental: the economic development in this group of social base.
