Abstract

RODRIGUEZ A, Sandra. Monopsony power in the market for health insurance in colombia. rev. econ. Caribe [online]. 2015, n.15, pp.121-152. ISSN 2011-2106.

This research seeks to analyze whether the health insurance market in Colombia is concentrated, and if that concentration influences the access to health services, in the period 2007-2011. The main result verifies the existence of concentrated markets, and shows that these insurers also influence the production of hospital services. This entails that the exercise of market power of insurers becomes in potential constraint in access to health services.

Keywords : market concentration; healthcare access.
