Abstract
MARTINEZ HERRERA, Oscar Javier. CONCENTRATION OR DECENTRALIZATION OF THE COLOMBIA'S MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS MARKET. rev. econ. Caribe [online]. 2017, n.20, pp.27-51. ISSN 2011-2106.
Colombia's mobile communications have had changes of high and low market concentration due to the process of acquisition (or purchase), fusions and free entry of enterprises. Today, however the market has nine enterprises, but is an oligopoly because the demand concentrates consumers on three dominant enterprises (Claro, Movistar and Tigo). While Virgin Mobile and ETB connected to Movistar and Tigo, due to the low financial capacity and bargain for acquiring infrastructure, the market continue its decentralization process. It during the last 3 years, thanks to auctions and enterprises' free entry, also low prices and bad quality of services of incumbents firms. This phenomenon forces consumers to move to others operators but the market still is concentrated.
