Abstract
MATRANGOLO, Gisela; SIMKIN, Hugo and AZZOLLINI, Susana Celeste. Evidence of Validity of the Multidimensional Social Support Scale (MSPSS) in adult Argentinian population. CES Psicol [online]. 2022, vol.15, n.1, pp.163-181. Epub May 24, 2022. ISSN 2011-3080. https://doi.org/10.21615/cesp.6009.
The present work aimed to adapt and validate the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (EMASP) for Argentine adults. The EMASP has 12 items that allow inquiring about social support from three sources: Family, Friends and Significant others. For this work, an instrumental design has been chosen. The sample was of an intentional type, consisted of 1278 adults born in Argentina aged between 18 and 83 of both sexes. In the local context, the EMASP shows adequate psychometric properties for each of the factors. Cross-validity by sex indicates that the Scale has adequate adjustment indices for both men and women. The external validity analysis revealed the indirect relationships between the different dimensions of the ESMAP with the Patient Health Questionnaire (PQH9) which assesses major depressive disorder. It is concluded that the EMASP has adequate psychometric properties for its use in the Argentine population.
