Abstract

Objective:
This text exposes the contribution of the Marxist conception of the world to the analysis capacity of Social Workers.
Methodology:
Documentary research was used as a qualitative social research strategy, using documentary review and content analysis as part of its techniques.
Results:
The paper focuses on the analysis of materialism and dialectics as essential components of the Marxist conception of the world and then, it explains how an ontological reconstruction of the professional intervention scenario is possible.
Conclusion:
The analysis made shows that the categories of concrete totality, work, instrumentality and mediation, are essential in the dialectical approach of the double condition that every professional must face: knowledge and intervention.
