Universidad Autonoma de Manizales articulates the teaching and learning process to the daily context through the social practice of students in the Peace and Competitiveness program that links them from the last semesters to the territories of the Colombian Coffee Ecoregion.
Objective.
To reveal the social representations of students in relation to the understanding of the territory to achieve the design of a didactic unit that allows addressing the representations susceptible of intervention.
Methodology.
Qualitative research with inflections of grounded theory.
Results.
Social representations in the field of conceptions and understanding of the territory, social thought, citizenship and roots were obtained in the results.
Conclusions.
Regardless of an intervention in the classroom, there are representations that are not transformed and that require both qualified teachers in didactics of the Social Sciences teaching and didactic units designed according to the conditions of the students and their contexts.
