Objective.

To analyze the ethical-political dimension of Social Work from the foundations of the theoretical-methodological dimension in the contemporaneity of Social Work in Brazil.

Methodology.

The bibliographical analysis of ethics and politics is carried out, exposing the debates around the construction of the professional collective projects that sustain society projects in which the profession of Social Work is inserted.

Results.

The relationship between theoretical foundations of ethics as a function of the everyday life of social life in capitalism, social reality and praxis is presented, as well as the influence of alienation and self-alienation of social classes, from authors like Agnes Heller and Adolfo Sanchez Vasquez problematizing professional work in the capitalist mode of production.

Conclusion.

The recognition of collective power is defined as a professional competence that must be consolidated in terms of a critical ethical-political project.
