Abstract
VALENCIA-MAYA, Victoria Eugenia; ROVIRA-RUBIO, Rayén Amanda and VARGAS-MARIN, Paola Lorena. This study arises in rural and urban contexts of the Department of Caldas (Colombia), with the objective of researching the social representations associated with gender identities of the teachers of public educational institutions in the municipalities of Manizales, Villamaría and Arauca. Based on the tools of hermeneutic philosophy, a qualitative research was conducted under the assumption that human experience is mediated by the interpretation in personal interactions through language as an element that facilitates human interaction. Data collection was carried out through the application of projective and comprehensive techniques approached from symbolic interactionism. The results obtained show how stigmatization and invisibilization have been the constant towards non-normative gender identities (NNGI). The social representations revealed in the teachers reflect the reality that prevails. They are taken for granted as normal, and they do not know how to approach them in the educational context so that they continue to be reproduced within the system.
