Abstract

GOMEZ, Martín. Endoscopic ultrasonography. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.4, pp.230-247. ISSN 2011-7582.

Endoscopic ultrasound -or endosonography, or gastrointestinal endoscopic ultrasound- is a procedure that, by means of a transductor located at the tip of an endoscope, is increasingly utilized for the evaluation of lesions in the gastrointestinal tract and surrounding anatomic spaces. This technology makes possible the evaluation of lesions located not only in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and rectum, but also in the mediastinum, lung, pancreas, liver gallbladder, adrenal glands, ovaries, etc.

Keywords : ultrasonography; diagnosis; esophagus; stomach; pancreas; choledocholithiasis.
