Abstract

ESCOBAR, Fernando; VEGA, Neil Valentín; VALBUENA, Eduart  and  BARON, Marvel. Appendiceal diverticulitis, literature review and presentation of two cases. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.3, pp.223-228. ISSN 2011-7582.

Appendicular diverticulitis is a low prevalence pathology, clinically and imagenologically indistinguishable from acute appendicitis. Its preoperative diagnosis is impossible making it a surgical finding. The treatment of choice is appendectomy due to its association with neoplasia, high risk of perforation and mortality. We completed a review of the state of art of this rare pathology and reported two cases of appendicular diverticulitis.

Keywords : appendix; appendicitis; diverticulitis; diagnosis; differential; appendectomy.
