The Special Section for Communism Repression of Buenos Aires Police is a role model for the part police forces play in the chasing and detention of those who have been the enemy to the conservative regime since the 1930s. Nevertheless, other provincial paths show characteristics that resist certain generalizations. This article aims at analyzing the direction taken by the section in Córdoba Police aimed at taking action in political issues during Sabattinismo (1936-1943). The qualitative study of the reports of the Social and Political Order and Anti-Argentinean Activities Commission, together with the institutional memoirs of the capital city's police, makes it possible to measure the influence of political disputes in the guidelines of police bureaucracy, and to go deeper into the actions of the political police under democratic and authoritarian regimes. There is a circumstantial work dynamic, related to emergency dispositions that backed police procedures and, at the same time, justified restrictions to the citizens constitutional guarantees.
