Abstract

VANEGAS-OCHOA, Lina María. Environmental Factors of the Textile Sector in the Valle de Aburrá. Trilogía. Cienc. Tecnol. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.22, pp.9-25.  Epub Nov 24, 2021. ISSN 2145-7778.  https://doi.org/10.22430/21457778.1426.

This article studies the environmental factors produced by the textile sector (dyeing, finishing, printing and denim washing) in the Valle de Aburrá. This industry consumes chemicals within its processes and, consequently, causes environmental pollution, which has prompted the implementation of legal regulations that establish controls and monitoring. Hence, this sector must identify the environmental factors affecting its processes in order to develop strategies to minimize the pollution produced. Using a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach, the control variables are described, according to their productive activity, which are related to water and chemical consumption in their processes, establishing the environmental factors. An interview was conducted with 34 companies in the sector. It was possible to identify their distribution in the Aburrá Valley and the strategies they are developing based on environmental factors. In this way, it was established that the companies are carrying out the management of ecological products, the improving of the processes for the recovery of resources and the management of the environmental legal matrix to comply with the levels of control and monitoring expressed in the legal regulations.
