Abstract
POSADA-PEREZ, Natalia María and PARRA-SALAZAR, Mayra Natalia. Environment and Society Research Incubator: Participatory Action Research in a Socio-environmental Key. Trilogía. Cienc. Tecnol. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.22, pp.158-180. Epub Dec 14, 2021. ISSN 2145-7778. https://doi.org/10.22430/21457778.1417.
This article aims to reflect on the systematization of experience of the Semillero de investigación Medio Ambiente y Sociedad (Environment and Society Research Incubator), which is based on the implementation of Socio-environmental Action Research, as a strategy derived from Participatory Action Research during the 2015-2017 period. The implementation of this strategy seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the study of environmental problems. To this end, the perspective of Enrique Leff is considered, questioning the role of academia in society and the very meaning of intellectual practice, based on environmental knowledge. The text is structured from the description of the Research Incubator, its work methodology and the conceptual assumptions that guided its actions around education, research, the meaning of learning, participation and liberating education. It is concluded that the implementation of strategies of Socio-environmental Action Research, based on interdisciplinarity, teamwork and real articulation between academia and society vitalize the practical work of the research incubators, without neglecting the formative work, research and dissemination of scientific knowledge, which is the mission of universities.
