Abstract

RABIER, Michaël. The "Literary Question" in the Work of Nicolás Gómez Dávila. perifrasis. rev.lit.teor.crit. [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.25-40. ISSN 2145-8987.

We would like to develop and deepen here the principles of the gomezdavilian's art of writing and quoting (Zitierkunst) based on the thesis of Leo Strauss about the "literary question", i.e, the importance of the form to understand the substance of a thought, and the distinction between esoteric and exoteric teaching. In this sense, it seems that the use of the short form and the quotation in the work of Nicolás Gómez Dávila due not only a stylistic purpose but to a philosophical strategy which is to appeal differently to different types of people.

Keywords : Nicolás Gómez Dávila; Leo Strauss; art of writing; esoteric strategy; implicit text.
