Abstract

Despite increasing interest in phraseological studies and important advances achieved in this field during the last decades, significant gaps continue to affect the didactics of phraseology when teaching Spanish and Italian as foreign languages. It is particularly evident in the peripheral area of the phraseological repertoire, especially concerning Phraseological-Pragmatic Units. These gaps reduce students' phraseological competence and, consequently, have a negative effect on their global communicative competence. Considering the causes and effects of this problem, this paper aims to provide a tentative answer based on a proposal, developed in the Action Research framework, that deals with the didactics of Phraseological-Pragmatic Units using a didactic model called Phraseological Pragmatic Model (Mo.Fra.P.). In particular, the author intends to present the advisability and advantages of this approach based on the results of an empirical-experimental study.
