Abstract

FERNANDEZ DIAZ, Manuel. The environmental crisis in animated short films: the perceptions of primary education teacher training students. Prax. Saber [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.38, pp.54-70.  Epub Nov 19, 2023. ISSN 2216-0159.  https://doi.org/10.19053/22160159.v14.n38.2023.14774.

The current environmental crisis has a clear origin in human activity. In recent decades this crisis has accelerated the degradation of earth's ecosystems generating problems to which solutions are yet to be found. Education plays a fundamental role in curbing the environmental crisis. Thus, animated short films with critical messages from an environmental point of view have been introduced as an innovative resource to be used in the classroom by primary education teacher training teachers. After the observation of the short films, several questions were posed to these future teachers. The content analysis of the students' written productions revealed that they perceived the animated short film as a useful resource to address environmental content and transmit values that would allow a shift toward sustainability. The results also revealed that future primary school teachers considered that they did not receive sufficient academic training to be able to use audiovisuals in the classroom in an adequate way.
