Introduction: To determine the quality of life of family caregivers of people receiving treatment for cancer, Unit of Oncology and Radiotherapy, University Hospital of Santander in Bucaramanga, in the first half of 2013. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study: 75 family caregivers were evaluated. The instrument that takes the concept model "quality of life family version" proposed Betty Ferrell was used. Analysis: descriptive statistics and rule Dalhenius and Hodges stratification was used. Results and Discussion: Most caregivers are women socioeconomic strata 1 and 2, incomplete primary education 37.3%, marital status, 66.7% reported being married or cohabiting, 50.7% of household occupation with a median of 18 hours of care to people with cancer. The overall quality of life inferred that caregivers have a perception of quality of life on average (41.3%). For dimensions of the instrument are reported: mean scores for physical health (48%), psychological (42%), social (45.3%) and spiritual (44%). Conclusions: It is possible that family caregivers are not identified by their care work as a caregiver and not perceive any change in their quality of life, despite having physical manifestations related to the burden of care and attention.
