Abstract

CAMACHO BONILLA, Aurelíano. "We do not sell the land". Oppositions and responses from a rural area in the face of Bogota's urban expansion conflict. Rev. Ciudades Estados Política [online]. 2020, vol.7, n.2, pp.15-30.  Epub Dec 14, 2021. ISSN 2462-9103.

The implementation of several expansion projects from Bogotá towards the south and southwestern periphery has triggered conflicts and tensions among various actors. For more than two decades, the rural-urban transition zone of Usme has been the scene of profound territorial, social, and economic transformations, which has led to the formation of a peasantry movement of protest and opposition to the urbanization process. This article, which shows a part of the results of the doctoral thesis "We do not sell the land". A rural area in front of Bogota's expansion projects: responses, resistances and negotiations, has the objective of identifying and contributing to an understanding of the recognitions and modes of action and legitimacy of the Usme's rural community and other actors who have reacted to the urban expansion. The document answers (1) how the actors involved in the Usme's conflict have responded and (2) their strategies and reactions in front of the expansion.

Keywords : conflict; expansion; participation; politics and territory.
