MONTERO MONEADA, Luis Alexander; JIMENEZ-REINA, Jonnathan and ARDILA-CASTRO, Carlos Alberto. Geopolitical Effects of the War in Ukraine. Novum Jus [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.1, pp.205-235. Epub June 16, 2023. ISSN 1692-6013. https://doi.org/10.14718/novumjus.2023.17.1.9.
The objective of this article is to analyze the geopolitical and geostrategic effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine. The time frame of the study is the first semester of 2022 and the area covered encompasses the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea, and the Arctic Ocean. In all three regions, there is evidence of a profound change in geopolitical dynamics and an attempt to reposition the most important hegemonic players, such as Russia and NATO. Additionally, a change in the nature of war is found, with hybrid warfare playing a greater role. This condition is also incorporated in the analysis of the behavior of the actors and their effort to reorganize their strategy towards each other.
