Abstract

In Venezuela, from the 1950s, there was a breakthrough in the industrialization of the economy that allowed it move from last place to first place in terms of industrial output among medium countries in Latin America. However, at the 1990s it begins an accelerated process deindustrialization of its economy. So in this article our objective is to analyze the processes of industrialization and deindustrialization of the Venezuelan economy. The article states that in an economy of rentistic capitalism as Venezuelan the absence of an institutionalized industrial policy generates a return to the Ricardian advantages.
