Mission

The maguaré is a percussion and communication instrument created and used for ritual and social purposes by indigenous groups of the Amazon rainforest for hundreds of years. The maguaré is also a symbol of unity and communion. Inspired by this instrument, Maguaré, an academic journal published by the Department of Anthropology at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, aims to become an instrument of scholarly reunion, exchange, and communication between scholars who practice, study, and conduct research in anthropology in Colombia and abroad. Maguaré seeks to disseminate a diversity of perspectives, subfields, and theoretical views within Anthropology and interdisciplinary areas that converge with Anthropology.
