DINIZ, Aline de Farias et al. Herbal medicine as an integrative practice in unique health of Brazil: A brief review. Rev. colomb. cienc. quim. farm. [online]. 2022, vol.51, n.2, pp.1029-1042. Epub 21-Dic-2023. ISSN 0034-7418. https://doi.org/10.15446/rcciquifa.v51n2.99366.
Introduction:
Unique Health is defined as interdisciplinary actions aimed at promoting human, animal and environmental health, with one of the focuses being the search for treatment options for many diseases, such as the use of integrative practices aimed at prevention and complementary treatment in conventional medicine of various diseases. In this context, the Unified Health System included Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health (PIC's), integrally and free of charge, with 29 procedures, highlighting phytotherapy, which consists of therapeutics using medicinal plants.
Objective:
To describe the role of herbal medicine as an integrative practice of unique health.
Methodology:
Articles and books published between 2011 and 2021 that reported on Medicinal Plants, Complementary Integrative Practices and Unique Health in Scientific Electronic Library Online, National Library of Medicine, Academic Google and US National Library of Medicine databases were researched.
Results and discussion:
In the context of single health, the PIC's emerged as an option to expand the health model, aimed at comprehensive care for the individual and the community, with phytotherapy being one of them.
Conclusion:
Given the relationship between unique health and phytotherapy, it is possible to say that there are public policies and resources for the use of phytotherapy in basic health care, however, there is a low interest and/or training of health professionals in the area. , in addition to the need to invest in the qualification of these professionals and in the development of scientific research on the subject.
