Competitiveness has been a topic of interest in different spheres, it fulfills an elementary function at the moment of generating differential and competitive advantage in companies and the national economy, it becomes a necessary condition to generate new positioning scenarios at national and international levels, the reason for this investigation.

Objective:

To analyze the competitiveness of Colombia compared to the countries of Latin America in the period 2010-2021, and based on this analysis, identify the advances and main challenges and recommend some actions that lead to improved competitiveness at the national level and, consequently, regional.

Methodology:

The descriptive, empirical documentary-quantitative method was used. The primary source was the information from the reports of unions, government, and sectoral entities (2010-2021) based on international indicators of national competitiveness.

Key findings:

The analysis found that the gap in competitiveness for Colombia is still large, which is why it needs to improve its position by articulating operations between the national and departmental (regional) levels.

Conclusions:

Strategic actions must be developed together with the articulated work between the parties, which allows, in addition to the growth of competitiveness indicators, to improve the national and therefore international position of the country.
