This article synthesizes the pedagogical experiences developed in community practices by nursing students from the University of Sinú "Elias Bechara Zainúm" of the city of Monteria (Colombia), between 2005 and 2010. Learning and teaching processes were developed based on social constructivism and the situated cognition theory, which led to abilities promotion and the relationship between practice and scientific knowledge. To teach the students how to think, new practice contexts with a juvenile style, and other particulars like the Friendly Service, and the Reproductive and Sexual Health Olympics were created. They allowed knowledge exchange between scholar teenagers and nursing students with a high impact in the society of Cordoba. The latter effort was recognized by the National Educational Ministry and the health and educational authorities of the department as a successful experience in the nursing field of the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
