Resumen

MEDINA ARBOLEDA, Iván Felipe; MOLANO, Julio  y  CORTES, Carlos Mario. Monetary compensation, training and transfer of learning: Evidence of accelerated learning. Psicol. caribe [online]. 2011, n.27, pp.61-84. ISSN 0123-417X.

The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of monetary compensation conditions on the speed of training and learning transfer in an array of second-order conditional discrimination. Attended by 23 participants, 11 men and 12 women between 18 and 26 years of age. Participants were randomly assigned to three groups, one group received no monetary compensation for their participation, the second group received $ 10,000 pesos (about 5 dollars) for their participation, regardless of their performance on the task, and the third group could obtain from sixteen thousands (8 dollars approximately) to two thousand pesos (1 approximately) for their participation, according to the performance obtained in the training phase. The results suggest the positive effect of compensation contingent on performance achieved during training, we discuss the motivational effects of managing information and inclusion of this variable in the studies and their implications for teaching. We review some methodological limitations that do not lead to a conclusion about the effect on the transfer tests.

Palabras clave : Second-order conditional discrimination; transfer; learning; motivation.
