After the mid-twentieth century, informed consent was highly ethical, legal and jurisprudential development, the implementation of the first codes of ethics of various professions, shortcomings are still present in their execution by professionals, including psychologists. Informed consent must contain qualified information other than the usual consent of all those elements that allow an autonomous and informed psychotherapeutic acceptance by the patient mentally and indispensable condition to avoid incurring professional liability. This serves as a basis for this type of work in the law of ethics of psychologists, doctrine and jurisprudence. This article states how the absence or insufficient information psychotherapist, is a factor generating liability for violating the freedom of the patient, which physical and nonphysical damages are configured.
