ECHEVERRY, Mauricio. A NEW IMAGINARY OF THE NEW WORLD: LATIN AMERICA IN THE WORKS OF JACK KEROUAC. Escritos - Fac. Filos. Let. Univ. Pontif. Bolivar. [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.43, pp.441-456. ISSN 0120-1263.
This paper studies the imaginaries built around the wild America, as a counterpart of the civilising ideal of Western Culture. The aim of the paper is to reconstruct from literature the marks of the wild America, especially, from the works of Jack Kerouac. Kerouac's novels, which are inspired in travelling and escaping to the exotic, are used to recompose the representation of the relations, not only, between North and Central America, but also with South America. The relations are associated with the fable of an unknown and inhospitable world of adventures.
