RIVERA, Fernando. From Jack the Ripper to the Scarface Syndrome - Social Representations, "Real T.V." and "Tele-Physionomics". univ.humanist. [online]. 2006, n.62, pp.261-318. ISSN 0120-4807.
This article explores the characteristics of tele-physionomics based on the theory of social representations understood as registers of social cognition, structures of techno-mystification, topology of cultural texts, grammars and dynamics of media spcectacularization. It analyzes the modalizations inscribed in the semiotic quadrant, touching on the forms and logics of the tele-construction of bodily identities, relating the juxtaposition of ethical, aesthetic, formal and thymic considerations in televised plastic surgery contests.
