INTRODUCTION
Issue 80 of the Universitas Humanística Journal., called for articles that develop ethnographic approaches to the multiple articulations between ethnicity and borders that emerge in different latitudes of contemporary Latin America. The dossier explores how this articulation invigorates, transforms, or dissolves dominant ideas about the place -and not only in the spatial sense of the word- that the ethnic subjects should occupy in Latin-American countries, and what kinds of borders are established and disputed from there on.
Guest editors Claudia Briones and Carlos de Cairo provided us with their support to call for a wide group of approaches that would allow us to contribute -in a comparative manner- to the discussion about the possibility to find a common ground for the different ethnic experiences in contemporary Latin America. You can find in the editorial a breakdown of the contributions in this special issue.
In addition to the monographic space on Differences, Borders, and Ethnicities, issue 80 brings two articles in its espacio abierto. Firstly, the work of Francisco J. Güemez Ricalde, Adriana Y., Valdivieso Ortiz, and José L. Zapata Sánchez; their contribution analyzes how knowledge management contributes to the generation of competitive edges in companies. Specifically, it aims to describe the knowledge appropriation sources in the Quintana Roo State in Mexico, following a qualitative methodology to this end. The second article in the espacio abierto comes from Patricia Tovar. She presents a scenario of art initiatives that lead to work on topics related to the building of peace in Colombia. This list shows how change and peace-building processes may be created from art itself (in its different dimensions).
Alongside the articles that make up issue 80, we also bring a review by Fernando Cubides of the book Pasados y presentes de la violencia en Colombia. Estudio sobre las Comisiones de Investigación 1958-2011, written by professor Jefferson Jaramillo.
As usual, this editorial effort is now in your hands; we hope you make the most of it. Enjoy, discuss, and share.
