DE SOUSA PEDROSA, António. Ecomuseums as Elements that Structure Cultural Spaces and Dynamize Local Tourism Strategies. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.2, pp.203-219. ISSN 0121-215X. https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v23n2.37190.
Ecomuseums, which are multidimensional by nature, feature a peculiar dialectics since they intensify the relations among heritage, development, and sustainability. This perspective allows ecomuseums to play a role that aggregates and dynamizes the different components of the regional reality in which they operate, by valuing the diversity of resources and developing activities that integrate those spaces. Thus, one of the objectives of ecomuseums is to make evident a territory's cultural identity. It is necessary to defend a development project based on endogenous factors mobilized by local inhabitants in order to promote and disseminate existing resources. Ecomuseums should play an important role as drivers of tourism by designing and promoting specific products for the space where they operate, following a cultural agenda deriving from the selective organization of the tourism offer.
