The environmental problem is a complex phenomenon where all the factors that cause it are inter-twined and any change in any of these factors can trigger alterations in all areas of our lives. One of the environmental problems that are difficult to relate to crisis is consumerism which refers to the consumption of goods and services that we use to satisfy our basic needs. Currently, artificial needs have been created to satisfy desires that turn consumption into consumerism, threatening the well-being of the entire planet. One of the tasks of environmental education is to foster favorable attitudes and habits towards the environment that contribute to the rational use of natural resources and therefore to the construction of a new relationship with the planet. Therefore, the general objective of this research focused on developing favorable environmental attitudes and habits in future primary school teachers to promote sustainable consumption from the teaching of socio-environmental issues, with a quasi-experimental design and through STSE focus as a didactic approach. At the beginning of the investigation, the results showed little clarity in certain concepts such as sustainability, consumption and consumerism and presented confusion with ecology, and environmental education while presenting presented moderately favorable attitudes. After the didactic proposal, there were significant statistical changes in the attitudes and consumption habits, thus the young people achieved critical reflections when they became aware of their consumption habits.
