CATALDO, Santiago. EROSION CONTEMPORARY OF U.S. POWER: ELEMENTS FOR A THEORETICAL ORDERING AND AN ANALYSIS PRINCIPLE. anal.polit. [online]. 2013, vol.26, n.78, pp.157-197. ISSN 0121-4705.
The debate on the "decline" of the United States was reissued in recent years. The big issue of it, however, lies in the relative lack of conceptual clarity with which the authors study the phenomenon. This study problematize the idea of decline and propose to replace this notion by a more basic one: the erosion of power. Detailing the virtues of this approach, we define the concept and finally propose a typology of the ways you can take this. Then describe the methodology for selecting high-impact academic authors purpose to study the particular case of the erosion of U.S. power between 2003 and 2011. Arguments are then developed for each of these authors, with special emphasis on what kind of erosion can relate to what causes must theme and variations throughout the period. Finally , we present the conclusions of this study.
