One of the points addressed in the peace talks held between the Colombian government and the FARC-EP guerrillas was drug trafficking. The agreement on this issue is summarized in three points: substitution of illegal crops with legal ones, establishment of a public health policy on consumption, and fight against the production and commercialization of narcotics. According to different reports of national and international authorities, the cultivation, trafficking, and commercialization of illicit drugs in Colombia after the demobilization of the FARC have not only not decreased but have increased. This article analyzes the strategies implemented by the national government against drug trafficking after the peace agreement and the factors that have prevented the control of this problem.
