This article puts forward an algorithm to identify the productive transformation routes based upon estimations of the distance among products. The algorithmfinds sequences of assets that describe the transition or route between the comparative advantages of a country and its industrial policy objectives. As complement to the theoretical contribution, pilot studies of the algorithm were done with data about Colombia; said tests show that it is possible to find routes, and that one path generates 18% reductions in the direct distance between Colombia's comparative advantages and its long term policy objectives.
