ALVAREZ-PLAZAS, Anderson Yamid; GOMEZ-IDROBO, Valentina y LEYTON-LUGO, Miller Andrés. Paternity experiences in military men linked to the National Army of Colombia. Prospectiva [online]. 2023, n.35, e21412372. Epub 23-Dic-2022. ISSN 0122-1213. https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i35.12372.
Parental bonds of attachment are decisive for the socio-emotional development of children. Its stimulation contributes to promoting sensitive care practices that favor in childhood the creation of skills to inhabit a context. Based on this idea, this research analyzes the paternity experiences of military men belonging to the Colombian National Army.
The methodology used has a historical hermeneutic approach, qualitative type and through a narrative design, delves into categories related to the trajectory of paternal life, paternal-filial relationship, and family dynamics. As a technique, the biographical interview with the participants was used, ten military men of different ages, places, and ranks.
As result, it is evident that paternal experiences are marked by the experiences of socialization acquired during his role as a son. At the work level, the territorial distances caused by their working day, added to the situations of violence in the country, generate difficulties of time to share with their children. In conclusion, military paternity promotes meanings associated with being an example to follow, providing the home economically, training with discipline, and providing your family with a safe living environment.
