HERNANDEZ, Marcelo Paulo; GALLO, Daniel José y FERNANDEZ, Damián Andrés. Conservation of ombusillo, an endangered plant from the Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Rev. colomb. biotecnol [online]. 2009, vol.11, n.1, pp.132-142. ISSN 0123-3475.
Phytolacca tetramera Hauman "Ombusillo" is an endemic species of plant of the south-east of Buenos Aires province that is in critical danger of extinction. The main factor that threatens this species is the reduction of natural environment by antropic action. This species owns antifungal properties, and due to the relationship with other species of the same genus, it could also own antiviral, antitumoral, antibacterial and insecticidal compounds. Macropropagation experiments with different concentrations of auxinic grouth regulators were carried out. As a result, segements of aerials axis "stakes" treated with 300 ppm of indol-butiric acid and segments of underground stems without hormonal treatment, showed an optimum rooting.Germination experiments under dark and light conditions were also developed finding that seeds showed positive photoblastisme with a germination rate of 65 %, declining considerably after a year of the crop.
