Resumen

LOPEZ, Marta Isabel. Tomasello and Stern: Two current inclusive perspectives of child development. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.2, pp.509-521. ISSN 1692-715X.

The objective of the present article is to illustrate two current perspectives of child development that are inclusive rather than exclusive -Michael Tomasello (cognitive) and Daniel Stern (social-subjective)-, in the sense that they integrate the discoveries of the early skills of the baby -carried out as of 1970-80- to their explanation, without giving up the particular theoretical paradigm they come from. They recognize these early skills and the fundamental role of the various factors involved in development -the innate, the environmental (social and cultural)-, different research methods and the limitations of a reductionist view. In addition they postulate that the dialog between the different theoretical perspectives is necessary to achieve a description of the infant as a unit.

Palabras clave : child development; cognitive development; social-subjective development; emotional development; social context; cultural context.
