PENARANDA, Fernando. Child rearing as a historical, socio-cultural and ontological complex: an approach for health education. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.2, pp.945-956. ISSN 1692-715X.
Members of health teams develop an action of imposing meanings on child rearing without sufficiently understanding the meanings taken into account by significant adults in the specific context of an educational setting, thus affecting the possibilities to solve their needs and worries. People construct their meanings of child rearing in a dialectic process of socialization-individuation in which life experience-particularly that of being mother or father-is a core issue because child rearing is a historical, socio-cultural and ontological process. Some consequences of the findings achieved in this research affecting public health, and the education process with regard to child rearing are presented in the conclusions.
