Resumen

GUZMAN-CARRILLO, Karla Yunuén; GONZALEZ-VERDUZCO, Blanca Sharim  y  RIVERA-HEREDIA, María Elena. Psychological resources and the perception of migration in children from migrant families. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.2, pp.701-714. ISSN 1692-715X.  https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.13210130614.

Migration impacts the life of families in the majority of countries around the world. This research describes and compares the psychological resources of children that have migration experiences within their family and those that haven’t had these experiences. A total of 177 elementary students from the Jesus del Monte community in Michoacán (México) participated in this mixed methodology study. In the quantitative area the following scales were used: Psychological Resources Scales and Evaluation of Interfamilial Relationships. In the qualitative area focus groups and a puppet game were used. The research found that the migration experience impacted on boys and girls in a similar way, as these children demonstrated that they have a higher level of development of family resources (unity and support) than participants with families that haven’t experienced migration.

Palabras clave : family; childhood; migration; Mexico; United States of America.
