This paper is part of a completed ethnographical study on the relationship between young people and youth training and employment access policies in the city of Buenos Aires. Within this framework, this paper analyzes and summarizes various research perspectives in social sciences that focus on youth employment in Latin America; these include educational access and youth employment policies as well as studies that capture youth experiences in relation to job training and work. The article identifies existing research gaps in this field and suggests approaches that can expand understanding in this area.
